Karen Loprete

Artist Statement:
My artwork is all about combining the colors, shapes, and textures of our world!  My love affair with all things fabric began early, I believe from watching my grandma with her needles. I love to incorporate the lace she made into my own artwork.

I graduated from the High School of Art and Design in New York City, where I concerntrated on fashion design and photography. At Syracuse University I marjored in design and illustration, graduating with a BFA.

For years I had a fulfilling career as a graphic desinger and illustrator, and then I earned my Masters Degree in Art Education so I could share my love of art with others.

I am now a full-time artist, free to meld my passions for creating artwork and meeting people. I am a proud member of the Connecticut Fiber Arts Collective and Studio Art Quilt Associates.
